Pav Baji is a favourite fast food dish in India… Pav is bun & Bhaji is mixed vegetable.. My kids love it very much especially when they take it for school. Pav bhaji is very healthy and its available in street food all over India but i love to prepare at home & all my family members love it… Here are the simple and easy step by step way to prepare pav bhaji at home !!!!
Potatoes 4 medium
Tomatoes 4 medium
Onions 2 medium
Garlic 8-10 cloves
Beans 1 cup
Green capsicum 1 medium
Fresh coriander leaves 1/4 cup
Green peas shelled 1/4 cup
Oil 3 tablespoons
Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Tumeric powder 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Pav bhaji masala 1 1/2 tablespoons
Butter 3 tablespoons
1) Wash, peel and roughly chop fine all the vegetables(carrot,beans,beetroot,capsicum) & potato (as we have to cut in 2 pieces)… Add the vegetables to a pressure cooker with a glass of water and salt to taste. Cook for up to 3 whistles.
2) When the pressure is gone, let it cool before grinding to a puree. and take the potatoes peel it and smash it like this and keep aside….
3)Finely chop onion,tomato & garlic keep it ready
4)In a kadhai just melt butter add as asafoetida ,garlic & fry. Now add onions and saute till dark brown. Add tomatoes &some peas and cook till the oil separates.
5)Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, pav bhaji masala, salt and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
6)Now add smashed vegetables and potatoes and mash thoroughly &add some water and allow to cook for 5 to 10 mins…
7)I get fresh pav readymade from outside… Slice each pav into 2 horizontally.
8)Apply a little butter to each side
9)Heat a large tava and cook the pav on both sides till the pieces are lightly browned.
10)Now garnish the bhaji with coriander leaves, remaining butter and serve hot with pav & chopped onion and lemon..
