Last Saturday got a invite through Chennai Bloggers club to witness the launch of a new kiosk like product called “GoFrshly” from a company called OwlTech ( A Food industry IOT firm)..I accepted to go as I m a big foodie….. The event was at  IT park SP Infocity at Owl Tech Office …The office is really amazing with brickwork, furniture made from stacking pallets..The atmosphere was awesome and i totally loved it …

Once we entered Divya Gandhi and Abhiskek welcomed us with a brief about the machine and food box and how they deliver hot fresh food in 90 seconds.. It was quite interesting .. Then we had a gud time playing Scrabble in which we won second place… Then we got introduced to the CEO of Owl Tech, Satish Chamyvelumani….

It really saves our time with modern technology..No need to waste ur precious time standing  in queues, fighting for space in small food counters in malls, eliminates the need to buy those redundant mall food cards and of course not shell out a premium for those small quantities of a meal. The GoFrshly team ties up with several restaurants including Anjappar, Paradise Biryani, Delhi Highway and even Dominos (quite soon).

 
Your favourite food on the move..I tried using there app to order food from my favourite North Indian Vegeterain Restuarant. Delhi Highway..Veg combo meal costing Rs.129. which had   2 Tawa Phulkas, Jeera Rice, Channa  Sabji and a Paneer Tikka starter ..It was really filling and  my tummy was happy 🙂 .The packaging is really amazing in food grade plastic that has been tested and allows to be heated without contaminating the food….. It was really a awesome experience once i ordered the frshly machine started it process and deliver fresh food within 60 seconds . Can you imagine….. to get hot fresh food without a queue…..  Sure you tooo will love it once you experience to order ur favourite food from the frshly machine

I totally enjoyed the whole Nutrichoice Essentials Diabetic Master class … Here is wat i learnt from Dr. Wasim, Seema Pinto and Chef Vamsi & Chef Teuku
Being a north Indian i was eagerly waiting for vegeterian dishes Today i came to know a fact that ghee is a fat burner, if used in small quantities. If we want to come out of diabetes we have to eat smaller portions of food as well exercise regularly mainly walking helps us to control sugar level in blood … We can also use Black Salt as much as possible.. ..Use millets in ur diet .. cook recipes ranging from appetisers, entrees and desserts without use of sugar and also have food when you feel hungry  again in small portions. I enjoyed this food trial journey a lot All the bloggers invited got a recipe book from Mrs. Seema Pinto containing diabetic recipes. I wish Seema Pinto for this amazing initiative and soon we can see India free from Diabetes……. Lastly we also tasted the food and clicked  a group pic …. .. Together We Can Stop Diabetes.

Oats upma recipe

 

A bowl of freshly cooked oats upma can be one of the healthiest options for breakfast to fight against diabetes .Regular oats with milk  can be very boring sometimes, that too when you are in a big crave for spicy start.  This version of oats upma could be one good recipe for everyone !!!!!

Ingredients:

1 cup Oats (quacker)

i/2 cup Onion
2 Green Chilli
1/2 cup chopped vegetables  u like (Carrot ,Capsicum,peas, beans)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
2 cup water
Salt – To Taste
1 cup Water
2 tsp Chopped Coriander Leaves
1 tsp Lemon Juice
2 tsp Oil
1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 tsp ground nut
Curry Leaves – 8-10

Method:
First take a pan roast oats for 2-3 minutes or until it start to be aromatic, take care not to burn it, keep aside
Now Peel and chop onion and finely chop carrot, capsicum, beans, green chilies, coriander leaves   and keep aside.
Now Heat oil in a pan, then add Mustard Seeds & ground nut saute until it becomes golden brown.
Add onion and fry until transparent. Add vegetables, green chillies  fry in medium flame for 2 minutes. Add a little salt just for the vegetables

Add the oats, salt and mix well for a minute. Add 1/2 cup water and mix well and cook covered for 2-3 minutes until all the water is absorbed and oats gets cooked.
Add coriander leaves, lemon juice  stir and off flame.
Cover the pan and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Serve hot with sauce or chutney..I love it with mango pickle……

 

Healthy Oats Thepla

Here is a healthy options to kick start your day in a healthy way making this Flat Bread known as Theplas.  This is also a perfect food to be taken when you are travelling long distances or going on picnics as they are easy to pack and do not spoil easily and keep well for a few days. They are light on the stomach, healthy, nutritious and filling too at the same time.
Ingredients
1 cup Whole wheat flour (atta)
½ cup  Quaker Oats
1/4 tsp  Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp  Red chilli powder
1/4 tsp  Coriander powder
a pinch of asafoetida
chopped green chilly to taste

Salt to taste
2 tsp oil( 1tsp in dough and 1 while cooking)

Method:
 

To begin making the thepla Recipe Take a bowl Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and make a batter out of it
Set aside for 10 mins. Divide into 4-5 balls and roll into thin chapatis.

Now Sprinkle a drop of oil on a non-stick pan and cook till both the sides are crispy & golden
Now  the tasty and healthy Oats Thepla are ready to serve! Relish with your favourite gravy or chutney, curd ,  tomato sauce or curd !!!!

Oats Apple Kheer

Payasam or Kheer is a traditional Indian dessert that is served in weddings, made for festivals and so on. It is the simplest of Indian desserts that can be whipped up in a jiffy.  if needed and also chop the apple finely instead of grating.

Ingredients

1 cup Oats (quacker oats)

1 cup apple (unpeeled)

4 tsp Sugar

1 cup Milk
5 Almonds

5 Raisins
A pinch of Elaichi (cardamom) powder
Method
Take a  non stick pan. Add oats and dry roast in a low heat till golden color. keep aside
Take the apple and cut into small pieces
Now take a bowl add apple&milk heat on medium flame by stirring in between for about 15 mins
Now add oats & Stir well.
Now Add sugar & cardamom powder and stir well to make sure there are no lumps.
Keep it on low flame for one minute.
Garnish with almonds and raisins.

Serve hot or u can freeze it also have chilled kheer which will be more tastier

Oats dosa

Instant Oat dosa is an easy recipe that is perfect for busy families. Sometimes you want to make something that is easy and hassle free and of course healthy. it is always healthy to start your day with a healthy breakfast. so i recommend you to serve oats dosa to supplement the required nutritions required in our diet. oats dosa is often served with  chutney of your choice
 
Ingredients :
1 cup  Quacker Oats
1 cup rice flour
1/2 cup urad dhal
1/2 tsp Baking soda
Salt as required

Method :
Dry rice & urad dhal make a powder and keep aside
Dry roast oats, until it is slightly hot to touch.Powder it and keep it aside.
Now add rice & urad powder add water and make a batter adding oats powder and salt
Make a batter similar to idli batter.Let it sit for 15 minutes.(The batter should neither be thick nor thin but should be of dropping consistency.)
Heat dosa tawa till smoky hot, sprinkle little water, allow the water to evaporate, then pour the batter with a laddle and spread it to a thin round layer with the base of the laddle. You can use even a stainless steel cup instead of a ladle.
Spread little oil around the edges of dosa and allow it to fry on a medium flame till the dosa is ready to flip to the other side.
Flip the dosa to the other side and toast for a min or 2, this step is optional.
Serve hot with any chutney of your choice

Instant oats besan dosa

Oats has become a common ingredient in every kitchen these days. With so many different types & flavours of oats available in the market the possibilities of creating new varieties of Indian recipes is unbelievable. I have decided to create my very own Indian recipes using oats in unique ways. Oats besan dosa is a tasty dosa recipe which can be served as a snack or as a breakfast item. If you are bored of having oats porridge everyday, for a change you can make this dosa !!!!
Ingredients:
1 cup oats (  Quakers brand )
1/2 Besan flour
1/4 tsp  Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp  Red chilli powder
1/4 tsp  Coriander powder
a pinch of asafoetida
1/2 tsp Cooking soda/ baking powder
salt to taste
2 tsp oil( 1tsp in dough and 1 while cooking)
Method:
Take a  bowl, mix together oats, besan, , turmeric powder, jeera , salt, cooking soda and needed water to make a batter. I added a little more than 1/2 cup of water. The batter should not be too thin nor too thick, so adjust water accordingly. Taste the batter to check for salt.
Now take a non stick tawa, when the tawa is well heated (check it by sprinkling water on the tawa), reduce the flame to medium and pour a ladle of batter and spread it in a circular motion. Drizzle a tsp of oil around the dosa.
When it is cooked, flip it over to the other side. Once the other side is cooked, remove from tawa and serve hot with any chutney of your choice

Oats Crunchy Cutlet

 I have been getting few requests for Snacks using Oats from my readers and hence I had come up with an Oats Tikki recipe which is an easy and healthy snack. I have included oats in my breakfast in many interesting options and now slowly started to include them in various varieties other than breakfast.  Oats cutlet is a healthy and easy snack made with oats, potato and spices. It is a perfect tea time snack and also a nutritious after school snack for kids !!!!
Ingredients:
1 cup oats flour
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp  Coriander powder
1 boiled potato
1/2 cup onion (grated)
1/2 cup carrot (grated)
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 green chilly (finely chopped)

a bunch of coriander leaves (finely chopped)
1 spring curry leaves
2 tsp Oil for frying cutlet
salt to taste
a pinch of asafoetida

Method:

First Boil, peel off potatoes smash and keep aside …

Take a bowl add oats ,potato,onion, carrot, all dry powders, ginger garlic paste mix all Make smooth and soft dough. Cover it and let it rest for 15 minutes.After 15 minutes Roll the dough and stuff it with the mixture and roll it again..

Now divide the dough into a big roll and cut it

I use the cookie cutter to make them into heart shape.

Now heat a pan or tawa add 1 or 2 tsp oil and place 4 to 6 tikki ( depend on ur pan size), do not crowd then and cook in medium flame until golden brown.

Flip cutlet to another side add again oil and cook until olden brown again , drain in kitchen with towel  and do for remaining batch

Serve with tomato sauce!!!!

Oats Idly

Oats provides us with a wide range of health benefits. Oats are a storehouse of essential vitamins and minerals. Even research studies have proved that including oats in our regular diet provides us with many health benefits. Oats are high in fiber and help to reduce cholesterol. It is also considered to be beneficial for diabetic patients and people who want to reduce weight Oats idly is the instant version of making idli. These are simple, quick to make yet delicious and nutritious idlis. 
 
Ingredients
1 cup  Quacker Oats

1 cup rice flour

1/2 cup urad dhal

   1/2 tsp Baking soda
Salt as required

Preparation

Bring water to boil, grease the idli moulds with oil and pour a ladle of batter into the idly mould. Steam for 15 minutes or until the idlis are cooked. After it cools slightly, remove the idli from the   mould and serve hot with any chutney or sambar of your choice…..
 

Note -Oats idli tastes best when it is hot with any variety of chutneys we like …..I love with green chutney ..My kids love oats  idly very much
